  • Improve privacy from side neighbors

Designer's Notes

  • This project was a small site that required an upgrade to drought-tolerant plant materials and a variety of other client needs including major privacy issues as well as hiding a very large telephone pole looming over the back yard.

  • Create a large comfortable outdoor living room area with a fire pit. Add a contemporary shade structure to the living room area for day usage. Using the two shade structure posts as a visual frame, create a vertical green wall on the property line wall. Add a fountain with a pleasant water sound near the outdoor living area.

  • Add horizontal wood slats to the existing concrete wall to soften the feel of the backyard space and give a more organic feel overall while increasing privacy. Rework pathways with concrete pavers and river stones.

  • Create a relaxing quiet hammock area under the giant bamboos in the rear of the property with a decomposed granite ground cover.

  • Redesign the rear property entranceway to expand the backyard space and hide the entranceway gate.
