  • Hardscape Design

  • Planting Design

Client's Brief

  • Rework the overall circulation flow

  • Add drought-tolerant gardens

Designer's Notes

  • A very large Beverly Hills estate backyard with a classical touch needed an uplift, a substantial reduction of water usage, and a major improvement in the circulation on the site.

  • The clients, environmentally proactive, love animals and wildlife. In context with classical architecture, the garden reflects the homeowners' whimsical and artistic personality.

  • We created a soft meadow that attracts butterflies and hummingbirds and allows bees to thrive while creating a natural and relaxing space. Additionally, a poolside lounge area was created within the confines of the meadow.

  • A new paver path improves the circulation within the site and updates the garden design. The path’s organic shape meanders through the garden. Tan pavers lined with grey and turquoise river rocks remind the refreshing flow of a river crossing the space.

  • A lush, drought-tolerant, low-maintenance ground cover allows for the dogs to run and play.

Client Review

Catherine is a joy to work with. She has been totally committed to re-designing our garden from the usual lawn, shrubs etc., into a beautiful succulent garden designed to integrate with the house. She’s knowledgeable about all plants, and provided us with professional drawings and key to planting. She also handled the requirements of our HOA Landscape Committee respectfully and integrated our gardeners’ into the new garden and was there to supervise all the demolition, and preparation right up to the final planting. And the best news, is that in our current drought in Calif. we have not turned the sprinklers on once.
